14 days. 14 posts. 14 groups of people to feel grateful to and for. As second, let me introduce the volunteers of YFU.

The first time I’ve met some of the volunteers of my organization, Youth For Understanding Vlaanderen, was the first weekend of my stay here. And then, on the second weekend, I went to Antwerp, to spend a full weekend with – again some of – them. Our volunteers are such a colorful, unique little group of people – with all ages, all backgrounds, all kinds of stories. I am grateful for them, because they’ve made me feel like part of YFU, and they are there, when you really need them. They are true volunteers, sacrificing their free time and resources – next to jobs and studying – for many-many years now. They believe in what YFU stands for, and they are the true proof – youth work is and will be always so important to change the world. I am thankful for all the small projects we had together, and for the opportunities to prove – I might come from a different background, but I am still useful for our mission: “making the world our home”. I hope that YFU Vlaanderen will thrive in the future and they will have many more happy christmas parties, like the one this picture was taken at – organized by the ever-so-creative Interns. 🙂

A fogadó szervezetem önkéntesei. Egy igazán színes, egyedülálló kis csoport – különböző korosztályok, különböző hátterek, különböző történetek. Hálás vagyok nekik, mert velem is azt éreztették, része vagyok a YFU közösségnek, és mert mindig ott vannak, ha a szükség úgy hozza. Igazi önkéntesek ők, évek óta feláldozva szabadidejüket és erőforrásaikat, munka vagy éppen tanulás mellett. Hisznek abban, amiért a YFU létezik, és ők a bizonyíték – mennyire fontos az ifjúsági munka a világ megváltásához. Köszönettel tartozom nekik minden kis projektünkért és mert bizonyíthattam – máshonnan jövök, de ugyanúgy a közös célért dolgozom: “making the world our home”. Remélem, hogy a YFU szárnyalni fog majd a jövőben, és hogy sok ilyen boldog karácsonyi parti lesz még, ahol ez a kép is készült – a gyakornokok szervezésében.
